Image & video compressor for Mac
Getting started
Drag images or videos into CompressBox, or add them with the file picker. Processing happens on your Mac. Completed files are saved locally to your Downloads folder.
Image compression
Choose a quality level to balance size and detail. Lossless compression preserves original pixels, so the reduction can be smaller. Choosing a target size lets CompressBox adjust image encoding to pursue that limit.
Video compression
Videos keep their original dimensions and frame rate by default. You can adjust the compression quality for each video before starting.
Troubleshooting
- Keep the original file available until compression finishes.
- Already optimized files may not become much smaller without quality loss.
- If output size grows, try a lower quality setting or retain the original format.
- For a failed task, remove the item and add the original file again.

Reporting a bug?
Please include your macOS version, the app version, and a short description of what happened. Do not include passwords, private keys, or private images unless they are needed to reproduce the issue.
